It all started with the gold nuggets. Much of what we find during mining season is too small for jewelry and is sold to support the operation of our dredge, but now and again there's a bonus of nuggets large enough to make jewelry from. My husband kept saying that we should start soldering bails on them so they could be worn, but I hesitated to permanently alter the nuggets with the process, and the cost of setting up was a little beyond me. After a few years, we discovered the technique of wire-wrapping and for my birthday in 2000, he got me all the tools I needed and wire to work with. Finally we could make nuggets into wearable jewelry without harming them! This led to setting other stones, particularly opals (our favorite)and my jewelry quickly found favor with people.

| Seven years later, I've finally got my soldering shop set up, and a whole new world of jewelry making has opened up to me. Not only do I have new designs coming, but I can finally offer such things as gold nugget post earrings. Dredging season has finally opened and I'm waiting for new nuggets to get started with! I'm very excited about these developments and hope you'll be checking in from time to time to see what's new. In the meantime, I've set up a couple of slideshows of my best work in wire(which I still do) and there are a few items for sale in my jewelry store.
